About Me

Long before I was a published author, I was a blogger, and this website was titled, “A Leap of Faith.”

I explained right here in this about me how starting a blog was a leap of faith for me because I wanted to write books, but I was afraid to put myself out there. I started the blog, this website, long before I’d ever completed my first book, and I did it to give myself confidence.

I blogged about my writing journey, my daily life, the ups and downs, the failures and the victories, the revelations and the changes, whether those changes were good or bad. I blogged about it all. — And a lot of you found me back then. You followed me and kept up with me when I was just a baby writer trying to find my footing.

Well, I’ve found it, and since retitled this blog to just simply Heather Threatte, Author. — Cause I made it. I have four published books floating around out there on the interwebs. Paperbacks sitting in people’s houses. I know this… because I autographed some of them. — Can you believe that? People didn’t just buy them, they asked me to sign them. I had to sit at my kitchen bar and practice my autograph like I was something fancy. (Yeah, okay, it was my mama, but… come on, a few other people asked too.)

I took that leap and now here I am. Want to know something, though? I’m still the same shy, socially awkward young woman I was when I started all this. I still struggle and stumble, I’m still afraid. Even more so now. I refuse to market myself. I tell people all the time… I want people to read my books, but I also don’t want them to. It makes me nervous. It’s scary, and I’m a big chicken. That has not changed.

So even though I took ‘A Leap of Faith’ off this website, I’m here to tell you that taking a leap of faith never ends, because once you take it and come out on the other side, you’ll be taking another one. And another. And another.

And it’s hard.

So I’m just Heather Threatte, Author… stumbling around out here trying my best. Feel free to follow along with me. I’d be glad to have you around.

(And go on over to Amazon and check out my books. They’re for sale and stuff. Romance novels, if that’s your thing. If it’s not, that’s cool.) — See, look, I tried. Give me some credit.

Much love.
And as always, happy reading!

Heather.

    Hi Heather,
I greatly admire your determination to reach for your dreams!
I’ve been afraid of failure most of my life, as I’m sure many of us have, but we aren’t really living if we’re too afraid to take risks, are we? I wish you well on your journey πŸ™‚

I’d thought I would leave a cool quote from Michael Jordan:

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”

    Have a great day,
    Jennifer

Awesome, love the courage! I can relate to shy and terrified of failure but learning to step into scary. Writing really has made me so much bolder and braver. It’s a great tool!!!!

You will enjoy blogging. I had to increase my computer literacy and learn how to draw and post my cartoons from hard copy when I started. I have met so many delightful people and we really have become part of each other’s lives. Merry Christmas.
