What We Have Here Folks… Is A Bird War!

I’m writing this post from my backyard. It’s nice out, the sun is going down, the birds are at the feeder. Like right now, a beautiful, red cardinal is at the feeder, and a woodpecker is hanging out on a branch in the tree. No squirrels at the moment. We do have corn for them, but I don’t see any right now. Now that I’m looking more closely, there are about 7 or 8 other birds in the tree, scattered about along the branches. Likely waiting on me to go away. 😂

Along with the birds, there’s a dog barking every once in a while, a next door neighbor letting her grandson help fill up their bird feeder, (I can’t see them, our yard has a privacy fence, but I can hear them.) Several kids are playing way further down the street, someone is grilling… The smell of charcoal is in the air. I hear birds chirping, a few bugs making noise. A squirrel just made an appearance… but not at the feeder, he scampered along the top of our fence and went into the neighbor’s yard.

It’s about 65 degrees outside, I’m wearing shorts, but I have a blanket. The kids across the street are playing basketball ball now. Can’t see them, but I hear the ball bouncing. Birds are still waiting on me to leave. Okay, scratch that… They just flew over my head and went to the neighbor’s yard. The ones that just put out seed. They stole my birds, y’all. 😂

Know what all this sounds like though? Looks like?

Home. ❤️

Anyway, I’mma end this here and go inside, see if leaving lures the birds back over. Think shaking the birdseed bag like ya do the treat bag for the dog works the same? 😂 Prolly not. I may try though. This is all out war now. I want my birds back! 😘

See y’all! – Heather! ❤️

It’s Christmas Time!!

It’s Christmas time!! (If you’re reading this & feel that Christmas begins after Thanksgiving…. Well, uh… how do I put this? …. You’re wrong! 😁 Goodbye! — Just kiddin’… You don’t have to leave! 😉)

Seriously though, it’s Christmas season, my absolute favorite time of year. ❤️

Ya know why?!

Cold weather, Christmas puzzles, & candy canes.
Hallmark movies, fir candles, & hot, steamy mugs of tea.
Christmas wreaths, Christmas lights, & Christmas trees.
Ornaments, cozy blankets, & Feliz Navidad on repeat.
Frosty, Rudolph, & Santa Claus.
Family, reindeer, & merrily good cheer.
Stockings, villages, & Christmas dressing.
Wrapping presents, Home Alone, & Happiness.
Christmas cards, cocoa, & snowflake pajamas.
Caroling, kindness, & Christmas blessings.

And just so y’all don’t think I forgot………
Jesus Christ, Lord & Savior, Son of God….
My heart, my life, my everything. ❤️❤️❤️

So here’s a picture of this year’s Christmas puzzle! My husband and I will put it together sometime over the holiday season, probably after making fancy snacks, and likely while I force him to watch Holiday in Handcuffs for the 57th time.  😊❤️

Talk to y’all soon,
Heather.

If you only had one window to look out of for the next six months, what would you want to see on the other side? Describe the view & why you chose it.

Winter. — Cold, crisp air. Clear blue skies. Green trees & Bare trees. Grass that has died… with the occasional sprinkle of frost or maybe even of snow. Ice all around. A light breeze that blows. Cold. I want to see cold, wintry weather. Maybe a lake or a mountain? Or maybe just a backyard in a cozy little neighborhood. I’m not picky. I just want to see winter.  — I want to look out my window & feel the chill on the inside. I want to sense it all around me. I want to see what’s outside that window come to life on the inside. I want to feel connected with it. —-

I feel more at peace during the winter months. There is just something I find extremely comforting & relaxing about it. — I step out into the cold & it brings an automatic smile to my face. It makes me want to spread my arms out & twirl around in circles like I did when I was a little girl.  — I don’t know if it’s the love of cold weather & the sense of clarity I get from it, or the fact that I’m a book loving, blanket hoarder that loves to snuggle up with a hot cup of tea & read for hours on end…. Lol. — Either way, I thoroughly enjoy winter when it is here & long for it when it is away.  —

One of my favorite memories from my childhood is one that should have probably been an indicator that I was going to love wintertime. — My dad would get up early to go hunting & my mom would always fix him a cup of coffee to take with him before he left. — I can remember several times when I would bundle up in my winter attire & take my dad his coffee. (I do believe one time in particular I actually dipped my finger in the cup & tasted it… I was not a fan, coffee smelled good, but it certainly didn’t taste nearly as good, lol!) —  I remember that morning so vividly in my mind. I remember how I couldn’t help but smile when the cold air hit my face as I walked out across the yard. I remember how happy I was in that moment. How amazing it felt outside & how warm I felt on the inside. — To this day winter weather still makes me feel that way. — 🙂
