Work, Run, Parakeet?!

I behaved myself like a responsible adult today, and worked. Also, like a responsible adult, 30 minute run, made dinner instead of asking my husband to grab take-out.

I mean y’all… I’m a fully functioning adult! 😀 Procrastinate? What’s that word mean? *shrugs* I don’t know. (Just kiddin…. I know it well.)

I’ve been editing all day. Which I despise. DESPISE!! HATE IT! ABSOLUTELY DON’T LIKE TO DO IT! (I put that in all-caps, not to yell at you, but so that you understood the severity of my dislike for editing.)

I like to tell y’all about my day, what’s going on and stuff, but that’s literally it. Edit. Run. Eat. Oh!! YouTube. I take these little teeny, tiny breaks every hour or so, so I don’t lose my mind, and I watch snippets of YouTube videos sometimes, which I also did.

That is it. I apologize for being boring. I have no thrills for you guys today. Of course, some of you are probably thinking….. Uhhh, girl is always boring. — That’s fair. *nods* I understand.

I’m exciting though. I have stories. I was bitten by a parakeet when I was a kid. Mean little bird. He was this little bright green and yellow feathered bird, and I was feeding him for my grandma, because she had several birds, and that little nugget bit me! Drew blood and everything! I had to get a bandage. And unlike Spider-Man, I did not receive any fancy super powers. I do not have feathers, and I cannot fly.

So there’s an entertaining story time for you. My life is thrilling, and this is riveting content. (It’s not, I apologize. *shakes head*)

Love To All,
Heather! 😀

A Lost Coke… & Memories Abound…

Curious about what I’m up to right now?

Probably not.

That’s okay.

I’m still going to tell you all about it! 😀

Singing. Writing. Drinking. — Water. It’s water, y’all.

I had a Coke, which is rare for me as it is, because I don’t drink them very often. When I do they usually come from a restaurant & are filled slap full of ice. It’s probably more ice than Coke, really, but that’s the only way I like it.

Anyway. I picked up dinner on the way home, and my lovely husband, thinking it was his drink he was finished with… dumped it down the drain. *sighs* That’s what I get for drinking something so bad for me, eh? Can’t even enjoy it!

Oh well.

As far as the singing. Love songs. Cheatin’ songs. Throwbacks I’ve been belting out for years. — I do that while I write. Music really helps with inspiration anyway. — But it also brings back memories that make me smile. For instance…

I’m listening to Sunny Sweeney’s, From a Table Away. Way, way back… years ago… after I’d just met my husband, long before he was my husband, I posted these song lyrics on Facebook…

“And I heard you tell her you still love her, so it doesn’t matter what you say, I saw it all, from a table away.”

Now for context, my husband didn’t like country music back then. He wouldn’t listen to it. He was all rock all the way. Now, though… he’s got programmed country stations all up in the car. So this was well before that.

And this was back when everything was so new, fresh, exciting, and fun. Ya know, when you’re falling in love & everything is cute.

He commented on those lyrics, saying something or other about how that was exactly why country music was trouble. 😀

I just remember grinning, thinking he was too adorable. — That’s been, goodness, nearly 9 years ago now. Holy cow. That was back in 2010. Late summer, 2010. Wow. Can’t even believe I’ve know him that long. — Time flies, y’all. — Also, just to clarify, I still think he’s adorable… just, ya know, not every single thing he says is adorable anymore. — hahahahahahaa! 😀

See!! Music… memories. They go hand in hand sometimes. Helps fuel emotion & creativity. Things that are imperative for any writer. Any person, really. 😀

As for the writing. I’m supposed to be working on novel #2… but here I am. Not doing that. Procrastinating like a boss! Is there an award for that? Can I get one? 😉

Okay, before y’all start handing out awards I’ve definitely earned & would, likely, hang on my wall with pride, I’m going to get out of here & get to work.

Much Love,
Heather!

Documentaries, Shopping, & Trash Day!

Nobody asked, but I thought I’d pop on & share some random facts about myself! — You’re all very welcome! 😂

Here goes…

1. I love documentaries! Not the preachy kind that are overly-annoying in their attempt to sway me one way or another… But the genuinely interesting kind that are educational & packed full of knowledge I’m unaware of. — I can watch them for hours on end & then I run around sharing all the things I’ve learned with my closest family & friends. Literally, I have engaged in nearly hour long text convos about things like super volcanoes, dirty rivers, & Australian wildlife. 😂 I’m sure all my peeps are incredibly grateful! 😂❤️

2. I love a cool, overcast, drizzly, rainy day! Those are the best for opening up the blinds & laying around in pajamas all day. 🌧️❤️

3. I will eat the same foods over & over, day in & day out… With very little variety. — I’m picky, I get in weird kicks where I only want one thing all the time… *Shrugs* it’s just a thing I do. 😊

4. I grocery shop in an erratic pattern. 😂. My mom & my husband get whiplash & shoot me dirty glares! — There’s no rhyme or reason to it… I just go all over the place, without a plan, the same isles repeatedly, accidentally missing others… Making quick abrupt turns that other people with me struggle to keep up with. 😂. It’s so bad the lovely Publix employees are like, “Hey again!” As I speed down the same isle for the 3rd or 4th time! 😂

5. The night before trash day I always send my husband a text before I go to bed reminding him to take the can to road in the morning! — That way he won’t forget & I won’t have to rush out the door all crazed & in a hurry, wearing God knows what kind of jammies that day, with ridiculous bed-head hair… Trying to beat the trash truck I can hear coming! All without being seen by said truck driver & my neighbors while looking so harried & frayed! 😂 I don’t like that challenge, not one bit.

If you found you had nothing better to do & spent some time getting to know me a bit better just now… Well, I’m glad for it! — If you feel like it, drop me a random fact about yourself. If you don’t feel like it, that’s okay, too. I’m just glad you stopped by! 😁❤️

Heather!

The Devil’s Hair Dryer…

I’m sleepy & really need to go to bed… therefore my ability to write up something thoughtful & profound is a bit lacking at the moment. Sooooooo… I thought, how about some randoms & pointless chit-chat. — I like it. We’re gonna go with it. 😀

I am currently kicked back in the recliner, watching Living Single on Hulu, & sippin on a glass of water. (Gotta set the scene.. 🙂 )Clearly, I am living a wild life. Make no mistake… This is the way the adventurous live. 😀

Oh & speaking of adventures…

I bought a new hair dryer today. (Story time!) — My old, old one. Not the one I replaced today, but the one I replaced before it… quit on me like 2 months ago. I don’t live near a store with an appropriate variety of hair dryers for sale. There’s a grocery store & a dollar store, a furniture store, a thrift shop, hardware store, couple downtown boutiques, & a small local drug store. That’s it. Along with gas stations, some restaurants, & churches. So I’m limited in options when things like hair dryers quit on me & I need to run out & get one.

Anyhow… went up to dollar store couple months ago… bought a cheap hair dryer to get the job done. Weeeellllllllll…. lemme just tell you… you get what you get for $10.

So I’ve been using this hair dryer. First off… it worked pretty good for a bit. Until it didn’t. Which didn’t take long, mind you. (& I always kept forgetting to pick up a better one every time I was in a bigger town.)

Anyhow, It didn’t have one of those protective backs on it, the kind to keep your hair from getting pulled out of your head & into the back of the hair dryer. Y’all… I have long hair. This was a disaster even before it was a literal disaster. — So to get to the literal disaster… it started sparking!

Like lightning! On the inside! (This was not some sort of fancy lighting function, I’ve seen that advertised on hair dryers, fancy lights on it & such…Nope… this was straight up electricity misbehaving!)

This thing would cool down… spark… then heat back up. Repeatedly. — I’m like oh this can’t be safe. (It’s wasn’t.)

That thing sparked, smelled funny, & was most definitely a fire hazard. So long story short…. (even tho I just told a long story… that may feel rather anti-climatic by this point 😀 ) I had to replace that hair dryer today. Seemed like a much better idea than catching my hair on fire or burning our house down. Or me… I’m irreplaceable… (This I know for the Bible tells me so! :D) Just sayin…

Ohhhh & to add to that! I dried my hair a couple of hours ago with the new one. It’s all silky smooth. Feels good & stuff. & that’s when I realized that cheap hair dryer was the reason my hair was all fried & frayed no matter what I did lately.

So that thing was frying my hair, trying to fry me, & attempting to spark some legit flames. That hair dryer was of the devil I say!

Moral of the story: When you need a new hair dryer…. & you live in a teeny tiny town… go on ahead & drive the 30 minutes into the bigger town.. buy yourself a good & decent hair dryer.. & avoid the cheap $10 hair dryers at the local dollar stores… cause they are not good for you or your health or the structure of your homes.

So now that I’ve shared that little tidbit with you…. my job is done here. I’m off to bed! 😀
