Grilled Cheese Sandwiches & Happiness!

A little bit about my day…

I went to the grocery store, came home, did some laundry, edited four chapters of my manuscript, and that’s about it.

If you want a few more specifics, I bought new wax melts for the wax warmer, a lovely beach scent. I fed the birds, uncovered the flowers so they could get some sun, ate some chocolate chip cookies, and took a shower.

I have a little bit of a headache from sitting in front of the computer for hours, so I’m going to relax and watch something on tv. Don’t know what yet. We’ll see. Oh, and I’m making grilled cheese sandwiches and French fries for dinner. I’ve been wanting it all day! But we were out of sliced cheese, hence my run to the grocery store. But I have american and colby jack now, and I’m about to make grilled cheese magic happen!

A Cozy Day At Home!

It’s a cold, rainy, dreary day here along the coast of Georgia. I’m curled up on the couch with a blanket, wearing my jammies and fuzzy socks. The dog is curled up napping on the other couch. I lit some candles. I’m watching impeachment proceedings. (Well, actually, I’m typing this while people stand around chatting with each other on the senate floor.) Thrilling life, ammiright? — (Ordinarily I wouldn’t even mention the trial, because I don’t go anywhere near politics online. But I wanted to set the scene for y’all.😊)

Anyway, I actually love days like this. I don’t like getting out in this weather, but when it rains all day, there’s a chill in the air, and I can spend the day curled up under warm blankets… it’s so… I don’t know, therapeutic in a way. Crazy as that may sound.

So this has been my day. It’s been nice.

I think I’m going to make homemade chili tonight. It’s five o’clock now. So I’ll probably start that soon.

Hope y’all had a great day, wherever it is that you are in the world, whatever it is that you did today. 😊

Wild, Riveting Content…

I know you came here for the riveting content I consistently put out. Well, you’re in luck, have I got some for you!

My Saturday went like this… I woke up. Late. On purpose. What can I say? I like to sleep in. I watched tv. I whipped up some homemade peanut butter cookies. Wasted time on the internet. Let the dog out, then made her come back in because she was barking at the neighbors all rude-like. We taught her manners, she’s just… ya know… stubborn. I watched more tv. I worked out. I watched some YouTube videos. I made grits and eggs for dinner. Wasted a little more time on the internet. Then, and only then, did I pop open my computer to get some work done. That was two hours ago. So I’ve spent roughly two hours writing, while only eating one peanut butter cookie during that time, and taking only this one break right now, where I’m typing up this nice, fancy blog post.

Nice, huh?

If you’re disappointed, well, clearly you didn’t know this was what my riveting content consists of. I guess I could have tried to hype it a little. Tell you that I watched a documentary about a whole pirate island that sank to the bottom of the ocean! Or that our outdoor critters ate all the corn off their little corncobs today! That’s right, that happened. Oh, and if you want a really interesting tidbit, I washed the dishes after baking cookies instead of letting them sit in the sink! (gasp!!)

This, folks, is my glamours life. 😉

Now I’m going to do some more fascinating things… Like more work, take a shower, watch more tv, go to sleep. Stuff like that. 😘 — See y’all later!

A Weight Loss Walk Down Memory Lane… ❤️

Ahoy Mateys!

I’m a little hyper. I just drank half a peanut butter milkshake. It was absolutely delicious, but y’all know that thing was slap full of sugar… and well, I’m not used to that kind of sugar intake anymore.

Don’t get it twisted, I still love sugar. I’d be lost without it. But in 2018 I lost 40 pounds and one of the things I quit was soda. I used to drink like three or four a day, no lie, I lived and breathed Coca-Cola.

But I cut them out, counted calories, and exercised daily. Over time I realized more than just my weight and appearance changed. I noticed a lot of sugar made me extremely hyper but gave me headaches and made me feel sick. I also noticed things like plain potato chips, which I’d happily eaten for ages, were too salty. I had to switch to lightly salted or no salt at all. I liked Mountain Dew before I lost weight, but when I tried it about a year after cutting it out, I decided it tasted much like what I would imagine windshield wiper fluid tastes like. 😂 It was amazing what quitting coke, and cutting out that much sugar did to my body and my taste buds.

I rarely drink my calories, but every now and again I snag a coke, a ginger ale, or a milkshake. Tonight, it was a peanut butter milkshake. I usually get one and share it with my husband. That calorie count is way too high for a single milkshake alone, so we split it.

2018 really did change my life. I’ll never forget it. I’m not just talking about weight loss, either. For those of you that don’t know, for exercise, I dance. I put on fast-paced worship music, and I dance. I move, and I keep moving. My whole world changed. Back then I exercised for an hour a day, and that hour belonged to God. (Now it’s more like 40 minutes, five days a week, but it still belongs to Him! 😘) I worked out and worshiped at the same time. It wasn’t just my body that went through changes. It was my mind, my mental state, my soul, my spirit. All of it. I could cry just thinking about what that did for me, my life, my relationships with the people around me, and my relationship with God.

It really was life changing.

Anyway, so as not to bore you guys any further, I’ll just share a couple before and after photos below, in memory of the year 2018. See y’all, Heather! ❤️

I took this one before I had even finished losing weight. I still had about 10 pounds to go. But I was so excited to see such a difference. ❤️
The photo on the left was when I was at my heaviest. Close to 165 lbs. These were taken a year apart. Christmas 2017 & Christmas 2018.
This I threw in because when my dad saw it he said, whoa, she looks like a different person. 😊 The photo on the left was taken as soon as I hit my weight loss goal, at the very end of June 2018. The one on the right was Summer 2016.
The one on the left was taken sometime in the fall of 2017. It popped up in my FB memories last year and stunned me. It still does. The right was March 2019. ❤️

A Distant Memory & A Cup Of Cocoa…

I’m drinking a hot cocoa for the first time in years. It tastes like my childhood! Seriously, it does.

So I’mma tell y’all about one of my favorite childhood memories. Now fair warning, I have no idea why it’s one of my favorites nor do I know why I remember it so vividly.

Here we go….

One cold, early morning when I was roughly around six, seven, maybe eight years old, my Mom made my dad a cup of steaming hot coffee and asked me to take it outside to him.

I remember it was pretty outside. The frost on the ground was beginning to thaw, but it still had that white, crystalline look to it. It was cold outside. I was bundled in a jacket. It was a thick one. Not a flimsy, it’s a little cool out, but a true, keep-a-kid warm kind of jacket. The sun was bright, the sky was blue and clear. I could hear birds.

I started across the front yard, carefully holding the cup of coffee, and thought, this coffee smells good. Now, I don’t know how much I knew about coffee before that, or how much attention I’d paid to the smell, but I took notice that morning.

Once I was about halfway across the yard I ever so conspicuously stuck a finger in the cup and then, after pulling it back out, popped it into my mouth to taste the coffee.

I didn’t like the taste and decided then that coffee was just one of those things that smelled good, but tasted awful. Ya know, like gasoline! 😂 (I’ve never tasted gas, but I’m sure it would taste awful!)

Anyway, I took the cup to my dad then went back inside. I have no idea why I remember that so well, other than maybe, even in my little person brain, I knew my dad would have been like, you did whaaat to my coffee?! (Not in a mean way. I have a really great, loving dad. Just in a regular parent, my kid just ruined my coffee kind of way. 😂)

And for some reason, that’s one of my favorite memories. I have no idea why. Still to this day though, I love the smell of coffee but hate the way it tastes. Hence, the cocoa. That I can do.

Isn’t it amazing what something as simple as a cup of cocoa can bring to mind? A distant memory about a cup of coffee on a cold, winter morning, a vivid recounting of that very tale.

Cool, huh?

Also… To my Dad, if you’re reading this… Sorry?… 😂😉

All For The Love Of Tinkerbell…

I decided to give Disney+ a try.

I have since watched Cinderella, The Little Mermaid, The Little Mermaid II, Zenon, and several epiosdes of Kim Possible. 😂

It’s literally like my childhood come to life… and I don’t necessarily hate it.

I gave it a try because I wanted to watch Tinkerbell. Now I don’t know if y’all know this about me, but I love animated movies. I found the Tinkerbell movies several years ago, and haven’t seen them in a while. (I don’t have kids yet, this is just a Heather thing. 😘) Anyway, I looked into buying it and balked at spending $15 for the one, then realized they’re on Disney+ and I haven’t tried it yet. So I figured, why not? — And here we are!

Oooo! And I didn’t realize National Geographic was on there until I signed up. I love documentaries! So that’s nice. May give some of those a watch, too.

Don’t know how long I’ll keep it. Could be a long time, or not, I don’t know. I already have Hulu and Amazon Prime, too. So plenty of options even without it. We shall see, though!

Until next time, Heather! ❤️

(I’ll just be over here watching TV… 😉)
